Natural Sciences Major Requirements

Admission consideration to the Natural Sciences major is closed to freshman and transfer applicants as the major has been discontinued effective fall 2018. The Natural Sciences major is also closed to on-campus transfers beginning 2017-2018.

Students will begin the Natural Sciences major by completing lower division preparatory curriculum:

  • One year of Calculus (Mathematics 16A, 16B, 16C or 17A, 17B, 17C or 21A, 21B, 21C)
  • One year of Chemistry (Chemistry 2A, 2B, 2C)
  • Geology 2, 3, 3L, 50L, 60
  • One year of Biological Sciences (Biological Sciences 2A, 2B, 2C)
  • One year of Physics (Physics 7A, 7B, 7C or 9A, 9B, 9C)
  • One quarter of Statistics (Statistics 100)

After completing the lower division science courses, students will choose a Field of Concentration, and then a different Supplementary Field from the following four areas:

  • Chemistry
  • Earth Science
  • Life Science
  • Physics
